Filósofo británico. Enseñó en el University College London (
1946–59) y después en Oxford (
1959–78). Obtuvo reconocimiento internacional en 1936 con la publicación de su primer libro,
Lenguaje, verdad y lógica, manifiesto de
positivismo lógico basado en las ideas del
Círculo de Viena y la tradición del
empirismo británico representado por
David Hume y
Bertrand Russell. También se lo recuerda por sus aportes a la
epistemología y sus escritos sobre la historia de la filosofía angloestadounidense (See also
